Binder measuring guide (a plastic gauge)

It is used to choose the correct coil (wire-o or plastic comb) size for the thickness of the document you want to bind.

🔹 How to use it:

  1. Put together the block (pages + covers) you want to bind.

  2. Insert it into one of the rectangular slots of this gauge.

  3. Check which slot it fits into snugly, without too much space.

  4. On the gauge, you will see the corresponding size in inches and millimeters – that’s the diameter of the coil you need.

  5. Then, simply take the coil of that size and proceed with binding.

For example:

  • If your block fits into the slot marked 5/8'' (16 mm) – you need a 16 mm coil.

 

This tool helps you avoid problems like using a coil that’s too small (pages won’t turn well) or too large (the block feels loose).
